The shadows without and within is a vintage photography album filled with black and white found photos and handwritten captions. Instead of showing a chronological arrangement of an individual or family, this album presents a fragmented and open-ended narrative told through numerous female characters. The images are cut apart and glued back together, excising details, and playing with the inherent borders and frames of vintage snapshot photography. Throughout the fifty-page album, the themes of shadows, doubling, division, and the interchanging of self are explored.
